The GSU’s Newest Restaurants
Two new restaurants are open and ready to satisfy your post-class cravings
by William White
Amongst organized events, fundraising tables, and study sessions, the George Sherman Union (GSU) is a fan favorite across Boston University. Located at the center of campus, the GSU is also the home to eight restaurants loved by all BU students and faculty.
The current restaurants at the GSU include Panda Express, Basho, Rhett’s Diner, The Coop, Halal Shack, and Starbucks. Now, BU has welcomed two new additions: Urban Table and El Comal! Many students tend to stick to their favorite restaurants, leaving the other restaurants underused, but the sight of these two new appetizing dining options has caught the attention of many. After trying dishes from both menus, I urge you to check them out!
Urban Table has emerged as the healthier option among the restaurants at the GSU and the staff dedicates their attention to creating delicious meal options. The restaurant offers a variety of soups, signature sandwiches, hearty grain and salad bowls, and sides of fruit. Complemented by their custom condiments, the 14 healthy sandwich options are packed with flavor. A few of my favorites include the classic chicken caprese sandwich and the classic Caesar salad. The restaurant provides a healthy and delicious option for students looking for a quick lunch between classes!
El Comal offers a plethora of Mexican cuisine options. With a Chipotle-like scene, the restaurant allows you to customize Latin-inspired burritos or burrito bowls with your favorite choice of protein, Mexican rice, and additional toppings to meet your cravings. El Comal’s menu doesn't stop there as it offers tacos, nachos, quesadillas, and more! Some of my favorites include their chips with queso dip and the adobo chicken quesadilla. To wash it all down El Comal also offers a variety of refreshing agua frescas and a classic horchata.
College is the time to jump out of your comfort zone and try something new, so the next time you're at the GSU, take a small risk and try Urban Table and El Comal!
