Post-Game Grub: Where to Eat After a Red Sox Game
Fenway franks are good, but these spots are better.
by Annika Gupta
Thanks to Fenway’s endless assortment of restaurant gems, your night does not have to end after the ninth inning. From fun and lively to cozy and casual, this guide highlights some of the best restaurants within a 10-minute walk of Fenway Park, so you’ll never be left hungry after a Red Sox game.
Loretta’s Last Call
Loretta’s Last Call brings the best of Southern charm to Boston, complete with authentic Southern cuisine, country music, weekly line dancing, and live music. Their crispy, hot Chicken & Waffles, Smoked Brisket, and Nashville Hot Fried Chicken are outrageously delicious and ideal for celebrating a (hopeful) Red Sox victory game. Their appetizers are equally tasty, some highlights including their fried catfish, which is prepared with cajun sweet potatoes and a smoked bacon remoulade, their spicy chicken croquettes with the same sauce, and their Serrano & Roasted Corn Hushpuppies, served with an irresistible honey cayenne butter.
With weekly fun events, Loretta’s is a great spot to bring friends and enjoy great music, dancing, and even greater food. Loretta’s is open late from 1-2 a.m. depending on the weekday, so whether you’re craving southern food or fun, late-night vibes, Loretta’s Last Call has it all.
Hojoko
Located in the Verb Hotel, just a 5-minute walk from Fenway Park, Hojoko is a Japanese restaurant celebrated for its lively, vibrant interior, and more importantly, its fantastic food. Alongside unbelievably fresh sashimi and sushi rolls, you’ll find hearty, warm comfort dishes like Japanese Curry Chicken Katsu and Spicy Miso Ramen. Hojoko also prepares tender, robata-grilled meats like wagyu short rib and chicken thigh.
The fun ambiance is fueled by loud music and a menu filled with hidden gems like the Shrimp Toast, Karaage, and Kimchi Fried Rice. Before you leave, make sure to try one of their desserts like the milk tea-flavored ice cream with boba and the Traditional Japanese Honey Cake. For a spot that doesn’t compromise ambiance for taste, Hojoko is the way to go.
Futago Udon
For a warm, comforting bowl of thick noodles, look no further than Futago Udon, a restaurant that has perfected the craft of authentic, handmade udon. Try their signature Miso Carbonara Udon, an umami masterpiece that blends creamy egg yolk, bacon, parmesan, and miso into one flavor-packed bowl. For something more tangy and spicy, try the Pork Kimchi Udon which is topped with tender, juicy pork, a poached egg, spicy kimchi, and pickled cabbage.
While you cannot go wrong with their appetizers, their crispy on the outside, and gooey on the inside Takoyaki balls are essential and pair perfectly with their refreshing smashed cucumbers. Be sure to save room for dessert, because the Yuzu Cheesecake and Matcha Mont Blanc, a light Japanese sponge cake, are the perfect sweet finales for your meal. Only a 10-minute walk from Fenway Park, Futago is the perfect place to enjoy an outstanding meal in a casual atmosphere.
