With BU students drowning in freezing air and mighty puffer jackets, a ski trip is knocking on your door! Yet, realistically, the time and energy to hit the road to Vermont can be incredibly daunting. However, never fear because Wachusett, Massachusetts, is just one hour from campus and provides incredible accommodations for our snow-loving fellows.
Wachusett accommodates student pricing and parking for adrenaline seekers wanting to take time to ski but can’t commit to an entire weekend away. With 27 trails, eight chair lifts, and a constant pourdown of freshly made snow, Wachusett Mountain is the perfect ski spot for a BU student to get a quick fix on a mountain. Their most recent snow report states that six lifts and 26 trails are open with a summit temperature of 22 degrees and a depth range of 55’’ to 66.’’
Scrolling on Airbnb, you can find places to stay, from functional apartments to historical stone barns revamped into cozy cottages. Wachusetts caters to a wholesome, fire-crackling weekend away, and it’s an opportunity to make wonderful winter memories and escape the long months of seasonal sadness.
For our non-skiing friends who want to tag along, there are most definitely opportunities for you as well. At the base of the mountain is a gorgeous lake with hiking and running trails for a perfect nature excursion. This place is a perfect spot to escape from classes and embark on a nature-filled weekend. With brick-stone churches and moonlit trails, Wachusett, Massachusetts, embraces a cozy New England winter vibe to destress from BU’s workload.
