When watching movies, have you ever caught yourself wondering if you’ve stood in the exact spot where the characters are—or even dined at a restaurant featured on screen?

Some of Boston’s most well-known restaurants have made appearances in popular films, and if you’re not paying close attention, you might just miss them! Here are a few you may recognize.

Fever Pitch, starring Drew Barrymore (Lindsey) and Jimmy Fallon (Ben), is primarily filmed in and around Boston, capturing a not-so-perfect Boston love story between a man, his lover, and his deep devotion to the Boston Red Sox. With a cozy yet lively atmosphere, Sonsie, located at 327 Newbury Street, made for a perfect backdrop for Lindey’s girls’ night, where the conversation centers around Ben’s over-the-top obsession with the Red Sox. For an authentic feel of the city of Boston, Sonsie was an ideal choice for filming.

Having been open for over 30 years, Sonsie has easily become one of Boston’s go-to restaurants. Serving seven days a week, its extensive menu offers everything from brunch to dinner, featuring some of the best martinis in town to brick oven eclectic pizzas throughout the day.

Speaking of the Red Sox, the movie Ted features scenes at Fenway Park, much like Fever Pitch. Starring Mark Wahlberg (John) and Mila Kunis (Lori), the film showcases several Boston locations beyond the stadium. One notable spot is Charlie's Sandwich Shoppe, located at 429 Columbus Avenue, where Ted persuades Lori to give John another chance, acting as the spot for the couple’s reunion.

Established in 1927, Charlie's Sandwich Shoppe offers Bostonians a nostalgic feel for the city’s rich history while serving delicious sandwiches. A recipient of the James Beard Award for excellent cuisine, the diner features a menu filled with signature breakfast specials, soups, burgers, and of course, sandwiches—from their famous steak and cheese to a classic B.L.T!

Matt Damon (Will) and Ben Affleck (Chuckie), Oscar-winning actors of Good Will Hunting, are no strangers to Boston, having grown up in Cambridge, MA. One of the most memorable scenes in the film takes place at L Street Tavern, located at 658 E 8th St. This is where Chuckie pretends to be a Harvard student to impress some girls, only to be confronted by a real Harvard student. Will, coming to Chuckie's defense, embarrasses the student and ultimately wins the girl's number with his iconic line: “How do you like them apples?”

Most famously known for its feature in Good Will Hunting, L Street Tavern offers customers classic pub-style bites. They serve wings, mozzarella sticks, chicken tenders, fries, nachos, and more—perfect to complement any drink on a night out!

Whether you’re a moviegoer or looking for a good place to grab a bite, these Boston favorites offer a unique mix of history and cinematic charm!
