Valentine’s Day, the day of universal love, is fast approaching. No matter your romantic situation this year, the holiday is an opportunity to celebrate the many loves of your life amid exams, work, and all the complexities of college life. It's easy to get swept up in the academia of BU’s campus, but let this article serve as a reminder that love is all around us.
In Boston, you are bound to find a good time, but especially for couples looking for romantic spots, the city is full of hidden gems. Mamma Maria’s Italian restaurant in the North End has a classy, intimate atmosphere, while the elegant Deuxave is a painless commute from campus. For couples that contend money can't buy happiness, the Boston Common is the perfect backdrop for a romantic stroll. In a similar fashion, the blue bikes are always readily available for a picturesque ride along the Esplanade.
For those whose Valentine is what feels like oceans apart, or actually is, there are still ways to feel the love on your special day. While long-distance couples may not be able to profess their love in person, gift-giving is the next best thing. The cliche box of chocolates and red rose bouquet, while effective, pale in comparison to a gift that comes from the heart. Whether it’s vulnerable like Jim and Pam’s teapot or cheesy like Mia Thermpoplis’ M&M pizza, send your significant other a gift that says everything you would in person.
The Lonely Hearts Club is just as important to celebrate on love day. Before girlfriends and boyfriends, the people who truly stole our hearts were our friends, and a Galentine’s celebration is the best way to commemorate such love. Hit Star Market for supplies, grab your gals, and spend quality time in or outside the dorms. Enjoy crafting, having a spa night, lively karaoke, or throwing a dinner party, of course ending with the ultimate rom-com watch party.
It’s clear no matter your vision for the special day, romance can be achieved across BU’s campus. Embrace all the city has to offer and let love sweep you off your feet this Valentine’s Day.
