Falling 4 Fall

The leaves are falling, and so am I. A playlist dedicated to lovesick fall enthusiasts!

There’s a crisp breeze outside, I'm surrounded by the sounds of crunching leaves, and the homely shades of orange and yellow paint the Boston alleyways. I know this time of the year all too well; it’s the time of heart-wrenching unrequited crushes and love ballads. Each year when fall rolls around the corner, our playlists shift from summer anthems like BRAT and Beyonce to lovesick melodies like Folklore and Frank Sinatra. Though it may be difficult to accept, let’s face it: “Brat Summer” is over. It’s time to prepare for a charmed and nostalgic fall. I’m here to provide you with song recommendations that will guide you through your emotional transition this season.

“Unforgettable” by Nat ‘King’ Cole

A timeless classic that resonates with listeners of every generation. Nat ‘King’ Cole tells the story of an “Unforgettable” romance that left a permanent mark on his heart. The song induces feelings of love, memory, and longing, and the melody makes me want to mysteriously wander through tunnels of falling orange leaves while sipping on a hot chai.

“Lovesong” by Beabadoobee

A bittersweet song about unexpectedly and gradually falling in love with someone, but unfortunately the feelings are one-sided. Personally, this is my anthem this season. It perfectly encapsulates the sense of longing that the changing weather brings while having a fantastical and romantic sound.

“Mrs Magic” by Strawberry Guy

Pure, magical escapism in a song. Close your eyes, press play, and be transported to a tunnel of love at a side-of-the-road circus. Romantic, nostalgic, and a hint of desperate longing; this is the perfect song to fall in love to this season.

She’s Got a Wayby Billy Joel

Imagine your crush singing this song to you. It’s a simple love ballad with lyrics that make the listener feel loved. Or lonely. Billy Joel does no wrong, and this song is perfect for any fall playlist.

“Baby Came Home 2 \ Valentines” by The Neighbourhood

The Neighbourhood is a classic staple in every fall playlist. Their moody and mysterious vibe is perfect for gloomy autumn evenings. This song feels so genuine—it portrays a feeling that cannot be described in words. It makes the listener feel every emotion the writer felt while falling in love.

“Everything has Changed” by Taylor Swift

Do I even need to explain? Taylor Swift is the master of fall records like Folklore and Red. This song in particular makes me yearn for an autumn romance filled with pumpkin patch dates and hayrides. Taylor captures a shift of emotions, making it the ideal soundtrack for the shifting temperatures of fall.
