brat Summer is Over… Now What?

Say Goodbye to Lime Green and Hello to Burnt Orange

Charlie XCX’s “brat” took over our Spotify and the internet this summer. If you fully embodied the season of chaos, you may have worn the iconic lime green, did the “Apple” dance on TikTok, and then continued to do it on a loop for days when no one was looking.

However, the air is changing; it’s now October, and fall is upon us. So, what will your fall soundtrack be?

There are lots of releases coming up which hold a lot of power. Music acts as a memory collector: one song can absorb all your feelings and emotions related to a certain time in your life, and years later, when you rediscover that same song, you are immediately placed back in that moment. If it’s a heartache, you can show yourself how much you have grown, and if it’s a core memory, then you can be zapped right back to that happy time.

So, what will be your next obsession that will capture your fall of 2025 within a poetic string of words that you can open up like a time capsule in five years?

October 4th will bring us Coldplay's tenth studio album “Moon Music,” Finneas’ second studio album “For Cryin’ Out Loud!,” and Leon Bridges’ fourth studio album “Leon.” This diverse range of genres, from pop-rock to alternative pop to soul and blues, promises something for everyone.

The month doesn’t stop there; October 10th will bring us Becky G.’s “Encuentros,” October 18th will bring us Shawn Mendes’ “Shawn,” and following that Joe Jonas’ “Music For People Who Believe In Love.” Some of these albums will delve into the artist’s personal experiences, sharing how you have to work through tough emotions in order to be happy.

These are only a few bodies of work that you can dive into this month, and there is so much more. Hundreds of songs come out every week, waiting to be heard. Some of the best songs are hidden gems waiting to be discovered, so pick out random Spotify or Apple Music playlists and press shuffle—you might just find your new favorite artist.

Will it be a “Moon Music,” Jonas, or a yet-to-be-discovered artist fall? Maybe Taylor Swift will randomly drop “Reputation (Taylor's Version),” and it will take over the internet. Or maybe you will let the spirit continue and make it a brat fall.
