If you’ve been on the hunt for a reliable go-to bagel shop for weekend outings, look no further. And, if you are new to the bagel world, don’t let Dunkin be the only bagel you ever eat. While Boston is not famous for its bagels, there are a few diamonds in the rough. Here is a list of some good spots to check out for your next Sunday morning bagel run.
Rosenfeld’s Bagels - Newton, MA
Since 1973, Rosenfeld’s has been a Newton Staple. They serve over twenty different kinds of bagels, multiple schmears, smoked fish, and more. While it is not in Boston, it is definitely worth the hike. (Don’t worry, they also are available on Doordash.) Rosenfeld’s has been around for almost half a century, and is the sworn bagel spot for many local families.
Kupel’s Bagels - Brookline, MA
Just a 10 minute walk from West Campus, Kupel’s has been serving a wide variety of bagels, breads, pastries, and sandwiches since 1978. Nestled in Brookline, this family-run business should be the next stop for your last minute bagel craving.
Exodus Bagels - Jamaica Plain
Exodus Bagels has had a trying time the last few years. They previously had a storefront in Jamaica Plain, however, due to the pandemic the owners have had to close the store and reconfigure their business. Currently, they are open for takeout from Thursday to Sunday. Head over to Jamaica Plain to support this local business and give this bagel a shot.
The Bagel Table - Chestnut Hill, MA
Starting as a staple in Boston’s farmers markets, the Bagel Table in Chestnut Hill serves a wide variety of New York-style bagels, and many different kinds of spreads. This local company was one of the first pop-ups at the Street, a shopping center in Chestnut Hill.
Better Bagels - The Seaport
Originally a pop-up, Better Bagels has finally opened its doors permanently in the Seaport. They also have partnerships with local cafes and other pop-ups in the Boston area. They won Boston's Best in the Improper Bostonian for their many bagels, sandwiches, and spreads. Next time you are in the Seaport, stop by Better Bagels.
